MCHS Mourns the Loss of Friend and Leader,
Jo Ann Hoffman

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jo Ann Hoffman, long-time leader, advocate and friend to animals and the Montgomery County Humane Society, who passed away on June 8 after a brief illness.

Jo Ann was associated with MCHS for 35 years.  She first volunteered with the organization in 1990, and, applying her decades of experience in event planning, soon established the first MCHS golf tournament.  She also served on and chaired several annual gala committees, volunteered in the kennels, and in 2004 was elected to the MCHS board of directors, where she still served.  As a board member, Jo Ann chaired several board committees, served as Treasurer, and served several terms as Chair of the Board. In recognition of her many contributions to animal welfare, Jo Ann received MCHS’s Humanitarian of the Year Award in 2004.

Jo Ann was a dedicated friend to animals in need, and worked diligently to advance animal welfare and the work of the Montgomery County Humane Society. She was especially active in the development of MCHS’s future animal welfare campus in Aspen Hill, Maryland, serving as the campus’ committee chair, and remaining a tireless advocate for the development of the project.

Jo Ann will be missed by MCHS and by her many, many friends in the MCHS family.
