The overflow rescue facility supports our underlying philosophy that animals should have a second chance regardless of appearance or health. It utilizes state of the art technology to provide a safe and healthy environment for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small companion animals.

The MCHS Rescue was opened and established exclusively as an overflow shelter for animals from the county shelter facility. The facility provided by our local government through the contract 30 years ago is insufficient in space and has not grown to support the growing population of our constituency.

The MCHS Rescue, located at 607 South Stonestreet Avenue, is a humanitarian effort dedicated to our commitment that space is not a reason for taking the life of an adoptable animal.
| With cage capacity for approximately 50 animals, the rescue is especially well-suited for special needs animals that are elderly, easily frightened, or do not show well at the county shelter. This new rescue facility provides these creatures with an opportunity to receive greater specialized attention, care, and a chance to thrive in a calmer setting. In addition, our rescue has a special visiting room where patrons can visit with the animal in a home-like setting. |
