Off-Site Adoption Events

We bring adoptable animals to selected locations around the county.

Can't make it to the Shelter, but still want to rescue an animal? How about coming to one of our off-site adoption events? Each weekend, we bring adoptable animals to various venues throughout the couny.

Our event schedule is published every Thursday in The Washington Post's Montgomery Weekly section under the Animal Watch column. It's also on our website under Events. Why not come and see the animals and learn about our shelter?

Our foster parents bring their foster animals to 3 different petsmarts every month and set them up inside the store. Monthly spots include Bethesda, Kentlands, and Germantown Petsmarts. Stop by and meet some of our animals available for adoption. Staff, volunteers and foster parents will be available to help you with any questions you may have about our shelter and our animals.

Our animals are always happy to see you.

Many of the off-site adoption visitors just want a chance to visit with our animals and find out how they might help our shelter. They learn about our Outreach Programs which serve the homeless animals of Montgomery County. Some decide to volunteer at our Shelter. Others decide to be foster parents and then of course some find their special animal friend. People also help out by donating items on our Wish List or by generously leaving a cash donation in our collection box. Every little bit helps the animals.

MAU information table

The off-site events are a great place to meet your new best friend. You can visit our adoptable animals in a relaxed atmosphere. Bring the whole family or your roommates to meet your prospective new pet. Learn about them from our volunteers or their foster parents. We encourage applicants to get to know the animal they are interested in. One can take them for a walk with the help of our experienced handlers or have a quiet visit with them.

Have fun! Our animals and volunteers do. Come see us soon! For more information please call the foster staff at: 240.793.4201 or email fostermau@mchumane.org
