Blossom/Foster is a tan female spayed Dachshund who is about 9 years old.  She is being cared for in a foster home along with 2 other dachshunds that all were given up together.  According to her give up sheet, she is crate trained and was left in a crate for 8 hours a day.  She gets along with adults and children.  She gets along with other dogs.  She is an active girl, likes to ride in the car and be brushed and groomed.  She is friendly when meeting strangers.  She was given up because her owners had no place to live.  If you can provide her with the love and attention she needs and deserves, contact her foster mom, Lorrie @ 301-946-0275 to visit her.

Nate/Foster is a 1 year old neutered black lab mix that originally came into the shelter as a stray but is now looking for his forever home while in foster care. He is a very sweet dog who is still on the shy and timid side when it comes to new things so his foster is working with him but he has made great strides and continues to improve each day. He does get along with other dogs and would love to go to a home that has a younger active dog that he could play with. It would also be nice for him to have another dog that he can learn from. He is crate trained, just about housetrained, current on shots, microchipped, and heartworm/lyme negative. He does already know a few commands yet his new family will still have to take him to an obedience class. Since he is still young and very active he does need a home with a nice fenced yard, no children under 16 years, and no small pets. If Nate sounds like a dog that you would like to make a part of your family please contact his foster mom Meg @ luvthemdogs@yahoo.com Please use Nate/F as the subject.
Armani/Foster is a 1 ½ year old neutered male Great Dane being cared for in a foster home. He walks easily on the leash. He is getting along well with the other dogs in the foster home. He seems to like people also. His give up sheet says he likes to chase balls and sticks. He likes to ride in the car, be brushed and groomed and was allowed on the furniture. He slept in the bedroom at night. He is friendly when meeting strangers but does back up. He was given up because of a house fire and the owners couldn't keep him. If you are interested in adopting him, contact the foster mom @ fattylovescake@aol.com for more information.
Archie/Foster. This sleek, black Labrador retriever is being cared for in a foster home waiting for his forever home. He's about 11 months old and gets along with other dogs. Because he is a very active big boy who still needs puppy training, he will need to go to a home with children over the age of 13 years old. If you would like to visit, please contact his foster family, the LaMere's @ 301-253-2579/email LaMereFosterDogs@verizon.net / subject Archie-F
Benjamin/Foster's gleaming steel coat and freckled smile will warm the hearts of all those he meets....this beautifully housebroken 6-year old Labrador mix is a rare treasure searching for his forever home. His favorite activities include power walking (you have never seen a dog get so excited at the merest glimpse of his leash....he gets three walks a day and more whenever we can squeeze in a fourth walk!) being brushed (he practically purrs with happiness!) and stretching out in the sunshine on his cozy blanket.

Benjamin rarely barks (we'd been caring for him for an entire week before we heard his voice!) and seems to enjoy the company of other dogs; he has not been exposed to cats and has been known to chase squirrels & bunnies on our walks so he might be best in a cat-free environment. He has completely mastered the "sit" command and (after just one week of training!) has been known to hold a "stay" command for a full four seconds - he is proving every day that he's one smart dog!

Benjamin will be happiest in a house without small children; if you're interested in adopting him and would like to schedule a visit, please contact Meg @ 240-426-2313.

Barbie/Foster is a sweet, loving and friendly dog.  She is being cared for at the vet hospital until she finds her forever home.  She is a 4 month old darling.  She is absolutely precious and looking for a warm and loving home. She gets along well with other dogs and loves to play. For a puppy, we do require that an adult be home all day to train and socialize her so she grows up into a happy, manageable dog.  If you would like to make her part of your family, contact Best Friend's Veterinary Hospital @ 301-977-1881.

This big, lovable female Akita's name is Hanna/Foster. She is being cared for in a foster home until she finds her forever home. She is being treated for Lymes which is curable. She is a healthy, young looking 12 year old that weighs 70 pounds. She likes riding in the car and gets along with other dogs. If you would like to make this wonderful, older dog a part of your family, contact the foster, Lucy @ 412-638-8445 (cell) for more information.

Since this is one of our senior pets, the adopter will receive a $75 coupon that can be used towards future veterinary visits. In addition, any adopter who is 62 years or older will get a 50% discount on this pet.
Jules/Foster is 72 lbs of the best kind if puppy love a person could hope for!  The 12 month old's  sweet nature shines almost as brightly as her honey brown eyes; she is extremely eager to please and happily receives pets and tummy rubs from everyone she meets.

This young lady absolutely LOVES her exercise; she is learning how walk gracefully on a leash and will be happiest with an owner who is dedicated to walking with her every day.  Jules' ideal adopter should also be willing to support her passion for a great late-evening game of fetch!

Given her size and playful nature, she will be best in a home without young children. Jules is crate trained and has been spayed; she is up to date on all of her shots and in good health.

We are teaching the her the basic commands, but her new owner should plan to take her through a training program as well so both the adopter and Jules will understand how to communicate effectively with each other.  But don't worry - she's worth it!  Spend just a few moments with this perfect lab/shepherd/ mastiff mix and your heart will melt....call to schedule a visit with Jules now!
