Simon/Foster is a sweet 9 month old 15 lb Brussels Griffon/Cairn Terrier/Pug mix being cared for in a foster home. He was given up because his owners moved. According to his give up sheet he knows the commands sit and down. He is potty trained and was left alone in the house for 5 hours a day. He likes adults, children, and dogs. He has never been around cats. He is a hyperactive puppy and likes to ride in the car. He likes to be brushed and groomed which is great since he will need regular grooming to keep his fur from becoming painfully matted. He is friendly when meeting strangers and has never bitten anyone. He walks well on the leash and loves to play outside. If you would like to add this little guy to your family, contact his foster Ming @ (301) 996-4136/email ming@mingchow.com for more information.
Batman/Foster is a 14 lb male black Affenpinscher with a date of birth of 12.15.05. According to his give up sheet he knows the commands no, crate, and outside. He was left alone in a crate 8 hours a day. He likes adults, children, dogs, and cats. He is active and likes to play chase the ball. He likes to be groomed and will need grooming regularly to prevent his hair from becoming painfully matted. He is friendly when meeting strangers and has never bitten anyone. He is current on his shots, Heartworm and Lymes tested negative, flea treated, dewormed, micro chipped and will be neutered soon. If you would like to add this sweet guy to your family contact his foster, Julie @ dogsaplenty@verizon.net for more information.

This gorgeous boy is Crockett/F, a 5 month old shepherd mix. He is a playful, affectionate puppy who will turn into a wonderful adult dog with some consistency and training. He is a smart boy and a fast learner. Housebreaking is coming along well and he is learning to enjoy his crate. He walks fairly nicely on the leash already. Crockett loves to go to the dog park and plays with dogs of all sizes. He is friendly when meeting strangers and is learning quickly to not jump up. Because he will grow quickly into a fairly large dog, he should not go to a home with small children. Since he is still a puppy, he needs to be adopted by someone who is home regularly during the day. If you are interested in meeting Crockett, please contact Monica Brown @ mbrownchfc@comcast.net/301-260-1396.

Meet Andy/Foster. Andy is about a year old and is just one big, goofy character. He is rather tall, not Great Dane tall though, and is just about all leg. We aren't sure of his exact breeding however we do know that his mom was a Black Flat Coated Retriever and it looks like he may have Doberman and/or some Hound in there. He is a very unusual looking dog with very interesting coat colors and hazel eyes. Andy generally loves people but does have a stubborn, defiant streak in there. He loves to play with other dogs and is really rather submissive to most except sometimes he can be a little to much for the smaller or older dogs. He would actually do better in a home with another dog that will play with him. He needs a home that has a securely fenced yard so he can safely run and stretch those long legs. Andy is crate trained, very rarely has accidents in the house, and has learned quite a few hand signals in addition to voice commands. The family that Andy needs and wants is one that doesn't have small young kids, doesn't have cats, is dog savvy and experienced. Of course he needs tons and tons of love. Andy is a special boy with a few little special needs so if you have the patience, understanding, time, and are willing to provide him with all the proper training he needs please contact his foster mom Meg @ luvthemdogs@yahoo.com and use Andy as the subject. Oh and a nice comfy chair that he can call his own would be just great too!

Coco/Foster is a 5 month old female Lab/ Akita Mix. Coco is mostly black with a little bit of white on her chest. She currently weighs about 32lbs. She has lived in a house with small children and loves playing with other dogs. She is an active dog and enjoys chasing balls. She is spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on all of her vaccinations. If you are interested in meeting her, please contact Hillary or Laura @ 301-738-6781/email hillary@sniffersdoggiedepot.com & laura@sniffersdoggiedepot.com
Hi friends! My name is Taco/Foster. I'm a grrreat little companion. I'm male, 12-year-old white and fawn colored Chihuahua. I'm easy-going, friendly, and enjoy sitting on warm laps. I also get along with kids and dogs --- probably cats too (although my foster mom hasn't introduced me to any yet). My previous owners had personal problems and just couldn't care for me anymore, so I'm looking for a new home now. Email: theaok@gmail.com to schedule a meet & greet.
Rocky/Foster came into our foster home as the result of his owner needing to move away and he's now fully ready for a new home.  He's a 10 month old Labrador/blue healer mix. Rocky is a well behaved dog most of the time but he also has an energetic side to him.  Playing fetch, "monkey in the middle", riding in the car, and lovingly chewing on his stuffed animal toy are some of his favorites.  He adores children and is a great human companion.  Rocky gets along well with other dogs but he assumes they are there for one purpose...to play!  Being a big dog, he'd enjoy being in a home with a fenced in yard.  However, with frequent walks, he'd also do well in an apartment/condo with a hallway long enough to chase a ball up and down.  Rocky is in great health, is current on his shots, and has been neutered.  If you are looking for a great walking partner and devoted friend call Karen @ (301)540-1228, darkrainbow56@gmail.com to learn more about ROCKY!

This pretty girl is Ebony/Foster. She is a black Labrador/Pointer mix, about 3 years old. She is a very happy and outgoing dog with a great personality. She is loyal, loves people and wants to be a part of everything. She is smart and easily trained, wants to please and listens well to direction. Because of her breed, it is important that she have an active lifestyle with a place to play and run off leash daily. Although she has a strong prey drive, she has learned to live peacefully with cats, kittens and guinea pigs. She also loves the company of other dogs.

Ebony is a loving, sensitive and sweet natured dog, but can become fearful of loud noises and sudden movements. Because of this, she will need to be adopted to a household without young children. She has had complete health care, including shots and has been spayed. For more info or to met Ebony in Germantown, contact Lisa @ Lis332@aol.com

George/Foster is a 7 month old shepherd/lab mix. Since being with us, George has learned a lot! He is crate trained, house broken and walks on a leash very well. Being around people and other friendly dogs is what he enjoys best. George started life as a scared stray puppy, and with love, training and attention has thrived. He is now ready for a new home. George is gentle with children and a bit shy around new adults and environments. He will need a home with a patient family who will continue to train him with positive training methods. Another dog for George to be with and have as a role model would be nice as well. If you are interested in seeing this wonderful puppy, please contact the LaMere Family @ LaMereFosterDogs@verizon.net with the subject George or call us @ 301-253-2579. For a dog under one year of age, you must be home often (not gone more than 3-4 hours) to continue socialization and training. You must also live within an hour and 1/2 radius of the main shelter in Rockville, MD (www.mchumane.org).

This guy is Clancy/Foster and he is an Akita/Lab mix puppy who is now about 5 months old (dob 10/09). He is a fun loving boy who can make you laugh at his silly, goofy antics. Clancy is a hefty, solid boy who weighed it at about 45lbs by four months old however the silly lug doesn't realize just how big he really is so he tries to do things the smaller dogs in the house do and usually the outcome is quite funny. The good thing about him is that he just picks himself up and keeps going. He loves all people but because of his size and enthusiasm over some things it would be recommended that he not be placed with small young kids. He does currently live with other dogs and knows his place, most of the time, yet he will have to meet any new potential doggie siblings. He should not be placed with cats, he likes to chase them a little to much. Clancy is crate trained and he is still working very hard on all of his other training and manners. He is very food motivated and seems to learn rather quickly so his training should go rather well. Clancy is looking for a family that is dog savvy and will be able to provide him with an environment where he will clearly know rules, limits, and boundaries. The family should also be very willing and able to take him to obedience classes and have an responsible adult home most of the day. He should be placed in a single family home or town home with a fenced yard. If you are interested in Clancy please contact his foster mom Meg @ luvthemdogs@yahoo.com and use Clancy as the subject.

Gracie/Foster is a 4 month old female Labrador retriever/Shepherd mix that was born approximately August 31, 2009 and is now being cared for in a foster home. She came into the shelter as a stray puppy and was very shy and scared and didn’t even know how to walk on a leash. She is now getting the work and attention she needs.  She is an assertive puppy and likes to be in charge.  She is highly excitable and lacks socialization skills and needs behavior training.  She is sensitive and afraid of loud noise, anger and quick movements.  She is very timid and fearful of new situations and needs a quiet, stable environment. She gets along with other dogs.  She needs a loving home to socialize her and someone that is home most of the day to continue with her training.  She will need to attend puppy kindergarten and basic obedience training.  She is current on her shots, Heartworm and Lymes tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, micro chipped and will be spayed before going to her new home.  If you have the time for this sweet girl, contact her foster, Ming @ (301) 996-4136/email ming@mingchow.com to schedule a visit with her.
Meet Boots/Foster. Boots is a young one year spayed female Beagle. She is very sweet and loving yet active and playful. She does have a typical Beagle nose so she loves to get into things and follow after smells inside and out. She gets along with most dogs most of the time yet she does not do well with cats or small animals. Boots is looking for a family that lives in a single family home with a securely fenced yard.

She also needs a family that is going to be able to give her plenty of time, attention, and exercise. It would also be preferred that the family has experience with Beagle's. She is already microchipped, has current vaccines, as well as a negative heartworm/lymes test. If you are interested in Boots please contact her foster mom Meg @ luvthemdogs@yahoo.com and use Boots as the subject.

Luigi/Foster is a 10 year old neutered male Dachshund being cared for in a foster home. He was found wandering around outside and was brought into the shelter. He is alert and friendly. When he came in he was in fair condition and a little overweight. He has clear eyes and good hydration. He had poor skin and a patchy coat and is now getting the care that he needs. He is current on his shots, Heartworm and Lymes tested negative, Flea Treated, Dewormed, Micro chipped and Neutered. He gets along with adult, children, and other dogs. He’s a very sweet guy.

Since this is one of our senior dogs, the adopter will receive a $75 coupon that can be used towards future veterinary visits. In addition, the adopter will get a $100.00 discount off the regular adoption fee.

If you would like to add him to your household, contact his fosters Jenni and Charles Weller @ (301) 384-2571 or email jennimw9@msn.com for more information.

Willie/Foster is a playful and passionate male lab mix with a penchant for people and activity! He happily plays with other dogs at the local Dog Park! He loves walking, trotting, running, bounding and jumping; he covets belly scratches and throat rubs and will tolerate baths and grooming (it is just not nearly as fun as playtime!)  He is crate trained and becoming housebroken, but at a mere 15 months, he is truly just learning his manners. He has responded well to training but will be most successful in a home with an experienced dog owner who understands that consistency is the key to successful dog ownership (meaning, you can’t laugh when he prances by proudly toting your spouse’s unmentionables from the laundry basket…you have to give him a firm no and then ignore him, which will make him drop the contraband!)

He has successfully interacted with an altered female rottie mix for the last few weeks; it appears that he would be a good companion for a well-balanced female looking for companionship or as a single dog, provided he received lots of exercise and attention.

Willie has been altered and at 75 lbs is in GREAT health….please contact the fosters @ 240-426-2313 for more information about Willie!
