Olive/Foster is a loving house cat who greets me at the door when I come home.  We call her the chocolate covered marshmallow.  She enjoys having her big, white belly rubbed.  She lives with cats, dogs and kids and Olive loves everyone. She is spayed, microchipped, has distemper and rabies shots updated and is FELV/FIV negative.   If you have a fun, loving home for Olive contact Jill @ dsajill1@yahoo.com.

Gibson/Foster is a sweet, fun kitten/cat under one year old.  She is very playful and loving.  She spends her days running around the house, sleeping in the sun and looking for someone to rub her belly.  She lives with kids, cats and dogs and enjoys playing with her kitten toys.  She would make a great friend for another cat. She is FELV/FIV negative, has distemper shots, dewormed and is microchipped. She will be spayed before going home.  If you have a fun, loving home for Gibson contact Jill @ dsajill1@yahoo.com or 301-983-1149.
Nehi/Foster is a beautiful 5 month old spayed female seal point snowshoe Siamese being cared for in a foster home. Her date of birth is approximately 10.3.09. She came into the shelter because her owners had too many cats. She likes adults, children, cats, and dogs. She likes to be held, carried, and is a lap cat. She is affectionate, calm, vocal, and a little nervous in new situations and needs time to adjust. She uses her litter box and a carpet scratching post. She is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, flea treated, dewormed, spayed, and microchipped. Now she is looking for her forever home. If you would like to spend the next 15-20 years with this adorable kitten, contact her foster Kate @ 301-620-4043/email kateluse@comcast.net for more information.
Data/Foster is a sweet, adorable 1 year old male cat being cared for in a foster. He likes to be pet and held. He likes adults, children, cats, and dogs. He is a lap cat. He always uses his litter box and is used to a carpet scratching post. He is affectionate and likes to talk. He is friendly and has never bitten anyone. If you would like to add him to your family contact his foster mom, Kathryn @ (301) 385-5339/email brownis21@aol.com for more information.
Ribbon/Foster is a nice, handsome 5 year old neutered male being cared for in a foster home.  He likes adults and children. He likes to be carried.  He is friendly and has never bitten or scratched anyone.  He is current on his shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, microchipped, and neutered.  Now he just needs to find his forever home.  If you would like to add him to your family contact his foster dad Dennis at 301-474-8228 or email dbjork63@yahoo.com for more information.

Barack/F is a 1 year old black and white kitty. He is neutered and litter box trained. Barack is very playful and has lots of energy at times but also likes his lazy sleepy period during the day as well. He likes to curl into all sorts of contorted positions when he sleeps. It is so cute and hard not to disturb him. Barack is very talkative and can be quite rambunctious but also has a very sweet and loving side to him. If you interested in giving Barack a permanent home or just in simply getting more information about him please contact his foster mom Julia @ 301-530-0282/email jmthompson1982@yahoo.com
This beautiful and elegant feline is Gem/ Foster. She's a 10 year old Persian mix who's looking for a warm lap to curl up on. Gem loves attention and will stand up and put her front paws on your leg as a gentle reminder that she'd like to be petted. While she loves humans, she's not so fond of other cats, but does get along with dogs. Gem is spayed, current on her vaccinations; feline leukemia and FIV negative, and always uses the litter box. If interested, contact Kate @ kateluse@comcast.net / 301-620-4043.
Potomac/Foster is a sweet little lap cat, about 1 - 2 years old.  She is spayed, up to date on her shots, and litter box trained. She lives in a house with cats, dogs, rabbits, & is ok with all the resident fur kids.  To meet Potomac, call Diane @ 301-520-3374/email Diane.Stalder@gmail.com

Super fun kittens, love to play, happy, friendly and healthy. Raised in a foster home with children and dogs. Up to date on shots including distemper, FELV and FIV negative, microchipped and will be spayed/neutered before going home. If you have a happy, safe home for a kitten (or two), contact Jill @ 301-983-1149/email dsajill1@yahoo.com

This handsome fella is Nino/Foster. He is a big kitten at one year old and is still growing into his paws! Nino is a tabby cat with some Maine Coon mixed in and he’s got a big, bushy tail to prove it. We haven't had Nino with us too long, but so far we have identified two of his favorite activities: pinning you down in your lap – and good luck trying to get his 17 lbs (so far) of love and purring up off of you - and he also likes to greet people by dropping to the floor, rolling around and begging for belly rubs. Nino does not seem to be a fan of dogs – though in truth, he hasn't really spent time with any, nor does he seem to appreciate little running, yelling children, so we will adopt him out to a home with older children or adults only.

Nino has had complete health care, including shots and has been neutered. For more info or to meet him in Germantown, contact Lisa @ Lis332@aol.com

Atlantic/Foster and Arctic/Foster are Top Cats! This means they were picked as favorites by Humane Society shelter staff and are highly recommended for adoption. They are brothers, 8 years old. They have been together all their lives and plan to stay that way. They are very affectionate and friendly and like to rub and purr a lot. They are good with children and other cats and don't even seem to mind dogs.

They are both declawed.

Atlantic & Arctic have a special reduced adoption fee to cover their shots and microchips and will also go home with two free vet visit coupons to help with their care – what a bargain! They have had complete health care and both are neutered. For more info or to visit these boys in Germantown, contact Lisa @ Lis332@aol.com
Gibson/Foster came into the shelter with some underage kittens and they were all placed into a foster home.  Now that the kittens are old enough to be adopted, mom is looking for a nice forever home for herself.  She is a sweet 1 year old female.  She is a little cat and only weighs 6 1/5 pounds.  She likes to be petted and held.  She always uses her litter box.  She is used to children and gets along with other cats. She is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, dewormed, flea treated, micro chipped, and will be spayed before going to her new home.  If you would like to add this adorable young cat to your household contact her foster Jill @ 301-983-1149/email dsajill1@yahoo.com for more information.
Hi everybody! My name is Daphne/F and I'm only 2 and a half years old. I lost an eye when I was just a little kitten and now I've lost my home too, because my owners had a baby. I don't get it either! But here I am, looking for a place to live where nice people will take care of me forever! I've got short hair and I always use my litter box, and I promise I will always wink at you! Will you please come visit me? My foster mom, Laurie, can be reached @ badseed@erols.com. Be sure to put cat or kitten in the subject line! Or call 301-770-9102. Thanks for stopping by!

My name is Blitzen/Foster! I am a handsome brown classic tabby with beautiful markings. I am only 5 years old and am neutered and litter box trained. And I have taken all my shots. I love to be around people, get affection, and lay around like any good cat does. I can't wait to find a permanent home of my own and would love it to be yours! Call my foster mommy for adoption information on me: Julia 301-530-0282 email jmthompson1982@yahoo.com
This Russian-Blue-wanna-be, Waterfall/Foster, has the most incredible green eyes. She is a petite 7-year-old spayed gray female DSH. Prior owners report that she likes adults, children of all ages, cats, and dogs. In her foster home, however, we think that perhaps she would do best as an only pet. Waterfall is people-oriented. She likes to be held and is a lap cat. She is affectionate, calm and curious. She is a good listener, and likes to cuddle for story time. She is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, and microchipped. Since this is one of our senior cats, the adopter will receive a $75 coupon that can be used towards future veterinary visits. In addition, the adopter will get a $35.00 discount off the regular adoption fee. If you would like to add her to your household, contact her foster Kathi @ 301-253-8840/email ksalex1959@gmail.com for more information.
Venus/Foster is a pretty girl with unusual eyes--one is green and one is blue! She is just about a year old and is spayed and fully vetted. Venus is a calm, quiet girl who is used to children and gets along with other cats. For more information, call Debby @ 301-916-0936/email dss2184@aol.com
Olive/Foster is a fun loving one year old tuxedo kitten/cat. She will great you at the door, follow you around the house and sit with you. She is friendly and fun and would make a great friend for another nice cat. She enjoys being held, petted, and playing with toys. She is spayed, FIV and FELV negative, microchipped, dewormed, has distemper and rabies shots up to date. She always uses her litter box and doesn't have any health issues. She is currently living with children, cats and dogs and loves everyone. If you have a happy home and would like to meet Olive contact Jill @ 301-983-1149/dsajill1@yahoo.com
Meet Rose/Foster and Wendy/F. They are a pair of sister kittens born sometime in April 2009. Rose is a blue cream calico and Wendy is a torbie. They are both very sweet, loving, affectionate, and playful purr machines. They love dogs and cats! They are very attached to each other and always get along so they do need to be adopted together. They both have perfect litter box manners, are spayed, tested negative, microchipped, and have current Rabies and distemper vaccines. If you are interested in this beautiful pair of sisters please contact their foster mom Meg @ loveacat@ymail.com and use Rose/Wendy as the subject.
Bear/Foster is a sweet male kitten born approximately August 16, 2009 being cared for in a foster home.  He is current on his shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, de-wormed, flea treated, micro chipped, and will be neutered before going to his new home.  He always uses his litter box.  He came into the shelter with 3 siblings.  All are very friendly and playful.  If you would like to add this guy to your household and care for him for the next 15-20 years contact the foster, Matthew @ (301) 351-7042/email mzamora@umd.edu for more information.
Denmark/Foster was born on 3-28-05. She is a female domestic short hair brown tabby who is shy at first with people, but will help herself to your lap, if you let her. She is much cuter than in the picture! She is very friendly with other cats and is always looking to play. To meet her contact Tere @ 301.528.5583/email tere_diaz@hotmail.com

Hi I’m Apollo/Foster (aka Tricey in my foster home), and I’m 3 years old male black and white cat.  I am a very cool cat, but you just got to get to know me in my foster home; otherwise I get kinda grumpy if you put me in a cage.  I can adapt pretty quick to a new home, and I eat dry and can food, you name it.  I like to be petted, but not too much; I just like to have some space, u know.  Sometimes I got my temper, so I do not recommend you to get so close to me.  Not that I’m mean or anything, but sometimes I lose my cool, you know how it is.  Okay, but let’s not just focus on the negative side though.  There are so many nice things about me; for example I’m so nice that I will wait for you by the door, I use my litter box all the time, and I am not shy at all so you can introduced me to all your friends.  Look at my picture, am I cute or what? I mean you just gotta see my eyes and my body, yeah I am hot!!! Oh, I speak three languages: Hi, Hola and Meow.  Unfortunately, I don’t get along with kids because then they get all the attention, and what about me?  Anyway if you want to contact me or my mommy call 202 270 4634 (our cell phone) or 301-740-3690 (my home).  Or if you are a little shy, just send me a e-mail (I’ll be glad to answer any questions you have) netmari17@hotmail.comI’ll be waiting, don’t take too long!!!!
Orlon/Foster is a special cat looking for a special home. This sweetly shy nine-year-old female has been diagnosed with chronic kidney failure, a condition where her kidneys don't work as well as they should. While this is a serious condition, it is also treatable, and Orlon could happily live for years with proper care (which includes feeding her a special commercially prepared food and having blood work done every six months to monitor her kidneys). Orlon deserves a chance at a forever home. She was relinquished to the shelter a year ago when her owner went to a nursing home. She has lived in a foster home since then, and she has proven herself a gentle and affectionate cat. If you're looking for a cat to sit beside you on the couch and quietly purr while you watch tv or read, Orlon is the cat for you. She also gets along well with dogs and other cats. If you think you'd like to give Orlon a loving forever home, contact Kate @ kateluse@comcast.net /301-620-4043.

Hi!  My name is Cleveland/Foster, and I’m a very playful 3-year-old female.  I have a gorgeous and very soft black-and-white coat, and love to play, be pet, and talk to you when I’m curious about “human” things.  I’d like a household where my parents will play with me, but I can also entertain myself for hours without getting into trouble, and I’d be a very easy and fun cat to take care of.  By the way, I came in with my brother, Clinton (check out his profile, too!), and we’d love to be adopted together so we can cuddle, play and entertain ourselves while you’re away.  Oh yeah, I’m also spayed, up to date on all shots, tested negative for FELV/FIV, and always use my litter box (just like my brother). I’d love for you to stop by and meet me!  You can call my foster mom, Kelly, any day or time @ 301-802-6864/email  kelltown51@hotmail.com
Fauna/Foster is a sweet, little kitten that was born approximately July 22, 2008 and is being cared for in a foster home.  She is current on her shots, spayed, and micro chipped.  Now she needs someone who can give her the love and attention she needs and deserves for her 20 or years of life.  She always uses her litter box, is used to other cats and doesn’t seem to mind dogs.  If you would like to adopt her, contact the foster, Ashlee @ 301-461-6498/ email ashsis127@hotmail.com for more information.
Givenchy/Foster is being cared for in a foster home.  He is a 4 year old gray DSH.  He is current on all his shots and is already neutered.  He is a sweet cat looking for a perfect place to call home.  If you live in the Maryland/Virginia area and can give this nice boy a great home, please contact the foster, Diane @ 301-593-1294/email diane.stalder@gmail.com to meet him.
Foglight/Foster is an 8 month old spayed female available for adoption. She is a gray tortie with pretty beige markings. She is in good health and up to date on all her shots. Foglight always uses her litter box and is very affectionate and playful. If you are interested in meeting Foglight and you live in the MD/VA/DC area, contact Margo Lennox/Foster @ 301-253-8760/email marrlenn61@aol.com
Meet Marble/Foster. Marble is a big 3 year old spayed female Blue Cream tortie. She is a nice cat, with a little feisty side, who enjoys being with you yet is not an overly affectionate cat. She does ok with other cats and would be fine as an only cat yet she doesn't like dogs. She has never been around children so it would be recommended that they be older children. She always uses the litter box, is microchipped, has current shots, and has tested negative for FIV/FeLV. If you are interested in her please contact her foster mom Meg @ megw@his.com and use Marble as the subject.
Whale/Foster is a lovely 2 year old brown tabby with bright green eyes.  She is incredibly sweet and has the cutest meow.  She is young so she still likes to chase strings, balls, and laser pointers around but she is also old enough to relax and chill most of the time.  She will sit and lay with you keeping you company and she has adjusted well into a house with many other cats.  She is spayed and litter box trained. She is a great cat and any one would be lucky to have her.  She is the perfect age and has a great disposition. She just needs that loving permanent home she can call her own. To meet Whale/Foster or for more information call or email her foster mom Julia @ 301-530-0282/email jmthompson1982@yahoo.com
Diamond/Rescue is a 2 ½ year old spayed female classic brown tabby being cared for in a Foster Home.  She is very friendly and likes to be pet and held.  She gets along with other cats and would make a great addition to a loving home.  She always uses her litter box and is current on her shots.  She is a beautiful, sweet cat and would love to have a home where she gets all the attention and love she deserves.  If  you would like to add her to your household, contact the foster Diane @ 301-520-3374/email diane.stalder@gmail.com
Quaid/Foster is a 9 year old, 17 lb female Maine Coon being cared for in a foster home. She is very sweet and likes everyone. She came into the shelter with her brother Mitchum/Foster who recently passed away.  They were brought into the shelter because their owner died.  Quaid is used to children and gets along with cats and dogs.  She is shy with dogs at first but then warms up quickly.  She likes to be held and is a lap cat.  She is affectionate, calm, and vocal.  She always uses her litter box and likes being brushed which is good because she will need regularly brushing to prevent her fur from becoming uncomfortably matted. She has never bitten or scratched anyone. She is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, flea treated, dewormed, microchipped and will be spayed before going to her new home. If you are interested in adopting this sweet girl contact her foster Diane at 301-520-3374 or email  Diane.Stalder@gmail.com for more information.
Josephine/Foster is a 4-year-old spayed female domestic medium hair/Japanese Bobtail Calico mix (revealed by her powder puff tail) with a soft silky coat. She was given up to the shelter because her owner died.  Miss Josie is not enjoying the company of the resident cats and I think that she would prefer to be an only cat.  She was a little apprehensive of the resident dog at first but since he ignores the cats, she just ignores him too.  She is affectionate (loves to be petted while eating and will jump in your lap) but sometimes she just wants to keep you company without getting too close.  She would do best in a quiet slow-paced environment without small children.  She has perfect litter box manners and is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, de-wormed, flea treated and micro chipped. If you would like to add this sweet girl to your home, please contact her foster mom, Alaina @ (301) 838-3006/email mcfostercats@gmail.com for more information.
Bond/Foster is a 2 ½ year old neutered male gray tabby long haired cat being cared for in a foster home.  He was very matted when he arrived at the shelter, he had to be taken to the vet to be shaved down.  Since he’s a long hair cat, he has to be brushed daily to prevent his fur from becoming uncomfortably matted.  Cats are not nice when they have matted fur.  He was given up because the owners didn’t have time to properly care for him.  If you would like to adopt him contact the foster mom, Diane @ 301-593-1294 or 301-520-3374/email diane.stalder@gmail.com
Minnow/Foster is a sweet 9 month old male kitten being cared for in a foster home.  He is current on his shots, neutered, and micro chipped.  He always uses his litter box and gets along with other cats.  He likes to be held and pet.  He was recently one of the MCHS Top Cats.  Top Cats come highly recommended by the shelter staff and volunteers.  If you would like to add this wonderful kitten to your family, contact the fosters, Lowell and Virginia @ 301-255-0188 or ldenning@mac.com for more information.

Brought to the shelter as a very pregnant stray, Maddie/Foster is a young, lively girl who just finished raising five beautiful kittens (pictured here with her kitten George) and is ready for a good home of her own.

Shelter staff estimated her age at around two but she is probably closer to a year old since she has grown significantly since she has been in foster. Maddie is very curious and loves to play with anything that moves--including kittens--since she acts like a big kitten herself! When she is not playing (or looking for something to play with) she loves to sleep on soft, warm, beds. For more information about this pretty girl, please contact Debby by phone @ 301-916-0936/email dss2184@aol.com
This handsome boy is Newbie/Foster and he is a neutered male orange tabby who is about 4 years old. He loves to be petted and give head rubs once he is comfortable and secure with things. He does enjoy being in the room with you and will allow you to pick him up and hold him for a short time. He is shy and scared of new things and situations so he would do best in a calm, quieter home. He does fine with other cats but does not like dogs. He would be perfect for someone that is gone most of the day but would enjoy some company once they got home. He has perfect litter box manners, is tested negative, microchipped, and has a current Rabies and distemper vaccine. If you think Newbie would be a great addition to your home and would like to know more about him or want to meet him please email his foster mom Meg @ loveacat@ymail.com and use Newbie as the subject.
Olivier/Foster is a blue torby with gorgeous glowing green eyes. This long-legged 4-yr old is about 11 lbs, and was given up when her family had a new baby. In the past she was a mommy and an outdoor kitty, but is now spayed and has become used to indoor life. She's grown more comfortable with people once she realizes they can be trusted. Aggressive cats frighten her, but she gets along well with easy-going kitties. Although she won't let herself be picked up, she loves to be combed. She would probably do best in a home with experienced cat owners, who'll give her the time and space she'll need to learn she's safe and can depend on them. To learn more, contact Virginia @ 301.255.0188/email ldenning@mac.com To see more pictures of Olivier and other fosters in her household, Click Here
Hello I am Melody/Foster. And I am as sweet as my name. I am a 5 y.o. female orange tabby! I am quite laid-back; love to be petted; and so loveable. I don’t mind other cats, but not much fond of the kitties that my foster mom brought home. My parents had to give me up since they were moving, but I know you have a good home and I have a lot of love to give in exchange! If you would like to adopt her or for more information email Colleen @ colleen.grant@gmail.com/call (301) 466-2989.

Petal/Foster and Pine/Foster are an affectionate and loving pair of cute cats. No need to worry about getting scratched or bitten. They love company and will often jump on your lap to say 'Hi'. If you are interested in visiting with these cats or for more information, contact Shireen @ shireenb@gmail.com/202-280-3744.

Peachie/Foster is a neutered male, light orange and cream, short-haired tabby, born in June 2008. Brother of Pepper & Flame. Affectionate, laid-back, outgoing, mischievous. Perfect combo of super-friendly and playful. Likes to groom his foster-mom’s hair, wrestle with his sisters, snuggle, get tummy rubs and nose-kisses, “help” make the bed, watch the toilet flush and explore closets. He started out as a feral (wild) kitten living in the woods in Silver Spring. Within days of being caught he was a purring in a human’s lap and learned to use the litter box quickly. Peachie can be carried around and cradled like a baby; he chooses snuggling over food all the time. Nail-trimming and giving him medicine is not a problem. He would be lonely in a one-cat household and would love to go to a new home with his sister Pepper who has similar playful spirit. Has no experience with dogs or children. Up-to-date on shots. Adopters must live reasonably close to Montgomery County, Maryland. Contact her foster mom @ 978-376-5860/email loribethlibrarian@yahoo.com

Pepper/Foster is a spayed female, short-haired torbie, born in June 2008. Sister of Peachie & Flame. Sweet, playful, friendly, mischievous. She loves nose-kisses, tummy rubs, grooming her foster-mom’s hair, wrestling with her brother and sisters, snuggling, “helping” her foster mom clean the litter boxes and make the bed, watching the toilet flush, and attacking scarves and belts in the closet. She started out as a feral (wild) kitten living in the woods in Silver Spring. Learned to use the litter box quickly. She has turned into a loving lap cat. Occasionally, she will even choose attention over food! She can be picked up, carried around like a baby. Nail-trimming and giving her medicine is unbelievably easy. Pepper would pine away as an only cat (she refuses to eat when alone) and she would love to go to a new home with her brother Peachie who has similar playful spirit. Has no experience with dogs or children. Up-to-date on shots. Adopters must live reasonably close to Montgomery County, Maryland. Contact her foster mom @ 978-376-5860/email loribethlibrarian@yahoo.com

Flame/Foster is a spayed female, short-haired torbie, born in June 2008. Sister of Peachie & Pepper. Unique features: orange splotch on forehead and cute double-meow (“meow-ow”). Sweet, dainty and playful. She loves snuggling, watching her water bowl being filled and grooming her foster-mom’s hair. Her favorite toy is a mini tennis ball. Flame may never be a fan of being picked up and carried, but she is usually rolling around on her back, purring loudly and begging for attention. She started out as a feral (wild) kitten living in the woods in Silver Spring. Instantly learned to use the litter box (no accidents, ever). Scared of strangers, good at hiding, but very affectionate with her foster mom. She is developing into a spunky, loving lap cat. Often will choose attention over food! Healthy and up-to-date on shots. Has no experience with dogs or children. Adopters must live reasonably close to Montgomery County, Maryland. Contact her foster mom @ 978-376-5860/email loribethlibrarian@yahoo.com

Terrific/Foster and Debonair/Foster are two-year-old brothers looking for a loving home. They are friendly and affectionate cats who get along well with other cats, dogs, and children. Their foster caretaker would prefer that they get adopted together but will consider letting them go separately if the homes are right. Both cats are neutered, current on their vaccinations, fiv and feluek tested, and have perfect litter box manners. If interested, contact Kate @ kateluse@comcast.net or 301-620-4043.
Finch/Foster is an adorable female kitten that was born approximately June 20, 2009 and is being cared for in a foster home. She came into the shelter with her sister Dove/Foster. Finch is a sweet kitten, likes to be held and petted and play with the other kittens in the foster home. She is current on her shots, FELV/FIV tested negative, de-wormed, micro chipped, and will be spayed before going to her new home. She always uses the litter box. If you would like to give her the love and care that she needs and deserves for the next 20 years of so, contact the foster Diane @ 301-520-3374/email diane.stalder@gmail.com for more information.

Juliet/Foster is a very friendly, 1 year old seal point Siamese tortie mix with very big light blue eyes. She likes to play with her catnip mice and will play fetch with them too. At night, she will sit next to you and watch TV. She's been a good mother to her one little kitten and is now ready to go to her forever home. She always uses her litter box, is not a picky eater, is spayed, and has her shots and ID microchip. To visit with Juliet, call Susan @ 301-437-7460/email susancutler@starpower.net

Hi!  My name is Clinton/Foster, and I’m a very affectionate three-year-old male orange tabby looking for a loving, comfortable home.  I have beautiful patterned stripes and a wonderful personality – I love to greet you when you come home, and talk to you when I want food or love.  Taking care of me would require very little effort from you – I’d just be there to love you, and in return I just want a home to call my own.  By the way, I came in with my sister Cleveland (check out her message, too!) and we’d love to be adopted together.  We like to play and cuddle with each other, and can entertain ourselves for hours while you’re away.  So you know, I’m neutered, up to date on all shots, tested negative for FELV/FIV, and always use my litter box (just like my sister).
