October 25, 2010, Rockville, MD -- The Montgomery County Humane Society has achieved a four-star rating for sound fiscal management from leading charity evaluator Charity Navigator. Only about a quarter of the charities evaluated receive this rating, indicating that MCHS executes its mission in a fiscally responsible way and outperforms most other charities in America. Ratings are based on current IRS data to help donors review financial health and how the charity develops its programs and services over time.
MCHS is proud to receive this rating. Only one other Maryland animal welfare charity and one in DC have received the Four-Star rating. As nonprofits continue to grow even while fighting a tough economy, we recognize that you want to know about results from charities you support with your hard-earned dollars. When you make a financial contribution, you can have confidence in the life-saving work MCHS performs for the community by caring for homeless pets.
Charity Navigator’s website currently lists evaluations of more than 5,000 charities, which you can access for free.
